Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke by phone on Wednesday to follow up on the agreements reached by Presidents Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Joe Biden at the North American Leaders Summit.

The Biden administration reported that officials discussed our ongoing cooperation to combat the production and trafficking of illicit synthetic drugs, including fentanyl, the leading cause of death among people ages 18-49 in the United States.

Blinken pledged to strengthen collaboration between the two nations to protect the population, prevent cross-border crime and prosecute criminal networks with the Bicentennial Framework for Safety, Public Health and Secure Communities, according to the State Department.

On the other hand, Ebrard met yesterday with the US ambassador, Ken Salazar, his security team and representatives of different consulates.
