Extreme heat alert for the northeast of the country

Storm alerts for the northern and northeastern provinces of the country

Alert for storms in 11 provinces.

Much of the northeast of Argentina continued this Friday with high temperatureswith highs that were around 41 degrees, for which the National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued a red alert for extreme temperatures for sectors of Misiones, while maintaining orange alerts in Formosa and Corrientes.

Red alert

The area affected by the red alert is the east of Misiones for the towns of the North of Guaraní, San Pedro, the upper area of ​​General Manuel Belgrano and the upper area of ​​Montecarlo.

In the case of the red level, the SMN warned that these temperatures can generate “high to extreme effects on health”, and can affect all people, even healthy ones.

Orange alert

The areas affected by the orange alert are the south of Formosa in the provincial capital, Laishí, Pilagás, Pilcomayo and Pirané; and the northwest of Corrientes in the capital and the towns of Berón de Astrada, Empedrado, General Paz, Itatí, Mburucuyá, Saladas, San Cosme, and San Luis del Palmar.

This alert extends to the center and south of Misiones, which extends to the towns of 25 de Mayo, Apóstoles, Cainguás, Concepción, Leandro Alem, Oberá, San Javier and Sur de Guarani, Candelaria, Capital, Libertador San Martín and San Ignacio.

The temperatures in these areas have been staying at high marks for several days and for this day maximums close to 39 degrees are expected, according to the SMN.

yellow alert

On the other hand, the yellow alerts for less intense heat are maintained for the rest of Formosa; much of Corrientes; the north of Misiones; southern Chaco in Almirante Brown, General Güemes, Puerto Bermejo, General Donovan, Libertad, Primero de Mayo and San Fernando.

In Buenos Aires, the alert extends to the towns of Adolfo Gonzales Chaves, Lobería Center, North of Coronel Dorrego, North of Necochea, North of San Cayetano, North of Tres Arroyos, North of Bahía Blanca, West of Patagona, West of Villarino, Púan, lower zone of Coronel Pringles, Coronel Suarez, Saavedra and Tornquist

According to the temperature ranking published at 6 pm by the SMN, the highest temperature was recorded in the Salta town of Rivadavia with 41.4°, followed by Las Lomitas in Formosa with 41°

In the case of the orange level, the SMN warned of a “moderate to high effect on health” and indicated that the temperatures can be very dangerous, especially for risk groups; while in the yellow level the effect is “mild to moderate” and the most affected may be boys and girls, and people over 65 with chronic diseases.

For this reason, the meteorological agency recommended that the population of these areas stay hydrated, not expose themselves to high temperatures, avoid physical activity and wear light and light-colored clothing.

He also asked to avoid caffeinated, alcoholic or highly sugary drinks, eat vegetables and fruits, avoid large meals and pay attention to babies, children and the elderly.
