Encouraged by the number of positive cases of Covid-19 in the department that has been decreasing, the authorities of the municipality of La Paz announced the celebration of the carnival festivities at the seat of Government and also a biosafety protocol that is in force in all the folkloric entrances of the city.
“We are working on generating a document that can regulate the biosafety protocol, a regulation of what it would be like to carry out our Carnival, that can regulate in the municipality of La Paz and why not, From now on, it can govern our folkloric entrances”, said the secretary of Cultures of the municipality of La Paz, Rodney Miranda.
The Carnival festivities will be next February 28 and March 1. La Paz celebrates four entrances on those days: the unearthing of the cucumber, the parade for children, the parade for the elderly and the jisq’a anta, which represent a large concentration of people throughout the route of these entrances.
The municipal authorities met with at least 20 organizations who participate in all the festivities, from the guilds to the leaders of the comparsas and directors of the bands. The biosafety protocol proposal must be prepared until the next Departmental Emergency Operations Committee (COED) of the department is held.
The regulation would not only be used for Carnivals, but also the entrance of the Great Power which is the main festival of the city of La Paz, a festival that has a moveable date between May and June of each year.
The authorities affirm that this municipality is the one with the best percentages of vaccinated people in the entire country, in the last three days the average was 800 cases. This Monday the number of cases was 707 cases positive for coronavirus throughout the department, of which 70% are in the municipality of La Paz.
