Former prosecutor Óscar Latorre gave basic lectures on law and recalled that in the face of any process that implies a sanction, the evidence and not to mention the exercise of the defense are fundamental pillars for the legitimacy of the accusations.
“Any sanction, be it criminal, civil, administrative or tax, can only be imposed after allowing the exercise of the defense of the affected party and must be based on concrete evidence of the facts that motivate it. And that is so in Paraguay as well as in the United States”, wrote Óscar Germán Latorre in a reflection shared on his social networks.
The clarification came in response to the financial sanctions announced by the US authorities during the reading of a statement, where precisely what was set out in the basic rules of a process happened, since no element was presented to support the claims.

“The fight against corruption must be relentless, but also must be sincere and not selective or opportunistic. Of course, it is always easier to see the speck in another’s eye than the beam in your own, ”she opined.
He also referred to a group of Machiavellians, who do not care about destroying the economic stability of a country, as long as they attack a single person without arguments.
