Damiana was brutally beaten and strangled to death in the municipality of Colomi, in Cochabamba. The 34-year-old woman was the mother of four children ages 14, 12 and eight, as well as a three-month-old baby. The main suspect in the femicide is her husband and father of the minors.
“We ask for justice for these angels who are here, we are seeing orphaned children. We ask for justice for our cousin who has murdered that damn man, we want justice for these children who are walking here, what will become of them, “said one of the victim’s relatives in tears.

Damiana is veiled at the headquarters of the Salto B Union, in the area of the Corani Dam and Lagoon. Her coffin is surrounded by posters that have texts asking for justice. Her burial is scheduled for the afternoon of February 1 in the Candelaria area.
The main suspect in the femicide is the husband of the victim and father of the minors. The man has already been apprehended and awaits his hearing for precautionary measures.

The Justice Observatory of the Free Voices Foundation will be in charge of the victim’s free legal defense, at the request of Damiana’s parents and relatives.
Lawyer Mercedes Cortez explained that, according to preliminary investigations, the femicide would have occurred on Saturday, when the couple was going to clean a cabin. On the way, according to testimonies of some people, they saw them argue and then only the man returned home.
“The hypothesis is that Pedro hit Damiana and then strangled her with a rope. He later abandoned the body of the mother of his four children outside the cabin, towards the mountain. He took his son in his arms, the baby who witnessed the ordeal of his mother and began the way back to his house, “said the jurist.
According to Cortez, the man would also have said that his wife tried to attack him with a knife and then fled into the bush, when they asked him about her.
