Santo Domingo.- The presidential candidate for the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) Abel Martínez, expressed indignation and regret for the state of defenselessness in which the Dominican Republic finds itself, when commemorating the birth of Juan Pablo Duarte and the beginning of the month of the homeland.
In Martínez’s opinion, since the era of the independence struggles, never before has the country been so fragile in terms of territorial security, illegal immigration and in defense of the Homeland, which, in his opinion, places us in a situation vulnerability in many directions.
“It is alarming that we continue to suffer from the precipitous increase in births of Haitian nationals with illegal immigration status and worse still, without documentation. That in one day, of 62 births in a hospital, 52 are under these conditions, marks the painful reality that we live, especially in hospitals in the provinces of the border area,” said Abel Martínez.

In a press release, the presidential candidate of the PLD once again puts his finger on the sore by demanding real and forceful actions to confront the criminal mafias that move hundreds of millions of pesos, with the movement of undocumented immigrants, the falsification of identity, the that also adds a framework that is dedicated to making it possible for women in labor to access the country and the health system.
“Once they are in Dominican territory, out of humanity, they must be given medical care, but this is to the detriment of our own women who cannot find beds to be cared for.
The undocumented women stop here and remain on Dominican soil, increasing illegality and nobody does anything, some out of complicity and others because their hands are tied and they fear the reaction of international organizations, before those who are on their knees,” he said.

The also mayor of Santiago makes a call to the national conscience, assuring that to defend the homeland you only need to love the Dominican Republic.
The senior political leader suggested to the Government that, instead of investing record millionaire sums in insubstantial state advertising, direct a large part of those State resources to strengthening the institutions that have the task of safeguarding our border and enforcing the immigration law, endowing them with of tools, technology, training and sufficient personnel, but, above all, stop the theoretical discourses and start giving results.
