Panama and Colombia sign a joint declaration to strengthen efforts against organized crime

During the Third Ministerial Meeting on security and defense, the Ministers of Public Security of Panama and Colombia, Juan Manuel Pino and Iván Velásquez, signed a joint declaration to strengthen efforts against organized crime.

In this meeting they touched on issues related to strategies, cooperation for security and the fight against transnational organized crime and related crimes in the border area.

The ministers also discussed the current context of threats in the border region, and the progress of the binational security mechanisms that remain in force between both countries.

As a result of this meeting, the Ministers signed this joint declaration, so that it will allow them to continue promoting strategies aimed at mitigating the negative effects of criminal networks associated with drug trafficking, human trafficking and related crimes.

On the other hand, they agreed to the timely and effective exchange of information between the security forces and to continue developing a constant and permanent dialogue between the representatives of both ministries.
