Peru withdraws the Honduran ambassador and describes the Honduran president’s interference in internal affairs as “unacceptable”

Ariel Albaez | January 26, 2023

This Thursday, the government of Peru, chaired by President Dina Boluarte, ordered the final departure of the Honduran ambassador to the country, Jorge Alejandro Raffo Carbajal.

The decision of the Executive was given when it considered as “unacceptable” the interference in internal affairs of the Honduran President Xiomara Castro in her intervention in CELAC ignoring the constitutional government of President Boluarte.

“As a consequence of the position adopted by Honduras, bilateral relations with that country will be maintained, indefinitely, at the level of business managers,” the Peruvian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
