The Executing Unit for the Rehabilitation of Neighborhoods and Surroundings (URBE) began the installation of electromechanical equipment for the Cableway at the entrance stations of Los Alcarrizos and Los Americanos, while progress is being made in the construction of the cabin garage in the Duarte Highway multimodal.
The coordinator of URBE, Nelson Camilo, said that they are working simultaneously on the civil works of the four stations: Los Alcarrizos, located at the entrance of the sector; La Grapefruit, in the sector of the same name; Puente Blanco, next to the bridge and Los Americanos, near the free zone of Los Alcarrizos.
At the Los Alcarrizos entrance station, work is being done on the slab formwork, where the cabin garage will be located and, according to Camilo, in the coming weeks it will be emptied. The place will have a 138 kilowatt hour electrical substation that will guarantee the project’s energy supply.
The process to install the bollards that will support the cable and the cabins was also started. The project will have 25 pylons with four stations.
“The bollards are tubular elements or structures located in the axis of the traffic and the cables to be installed and that have sufficient capacity to support the passage of the cabins,” said Nelson Camilo. Part of the bearing equipment and the structure of the cable system are already in place, as well as some of the bollards, the rest are expected to arrive next month.
Diario Libre made a visit to the place and observed the dynamism in the work that is being carried out, mainly in the installation of electromechanical equipment as well as in the part of the infrastructure for the garage of the cabins.
Of the three components that make up the multimodal: the Cableway, the Metro and the bus terminal, the latter is paralyzed. Regarding the Metro, heavy equipment works on the movement of earth in the part where it would join the Cableway.
The Cableway Los Alcarrizos will have a route of 4.20 kilometers, which can be traveled in 15 minutes with a capacity of 4,500 passengers per hour in each direction.
