The Comprehensive Social Development Commission of the National Assembly (AN) approved 38 articles of the 112 contained in the final report of the Organic Law Project for the Integration, Equality and Comprehensive Social Development of Persons with Disabilities, according to the president of the parliamentary body, deputy Rodolfo Crespo.
In this regard, according to a press release from the national parliament, the legislator reiterated that the purpose of the rule is to recognize the human dignity of people with disabilities and respect for their rights.
Likewise, the law seeks to guarantee the effective and autonomous exercise of their rights and guarantees in conditions of equality, their integral development, the recognition of their citizenship and social integration, being the State, families and society guarantors of this.
Deputy Rodolfo Crespo added that the commission’s working day was attended by legal advisors from the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (Conapdis).
For her part, deputy Yurami Quintero recalled that the aforementioned law was approved by the AN in 2007 and almost 95% of its articles are being reformed.
He explained that the public consultation was carried out in 2021, between the months of May, June and July, with the participation of more than four thousand people, in the 23 states of the country and the Capital District. At the same time, he added that the reform is giving it the character of an organic law.
In this sense, Quintero recognized the hard work of the organizations, movements and foundations of different communities of people with disabilities for their contributions to legal regulations.
On the other hand, Deputy Rodolfo Crespo pointed out that they will be transferred to each company, both in the public and private sectors, and government institutions so that the content of this law is fully complied with.
