Santo Domingo.- The vice president of the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), Janet Camilloannounced yesterday Wednesday his aspirations to the candidacy of Mayor of the National District for the municipal elections of 2024.
With the motto “Passion for my city”, the former Minister of Women launched into the arena with this new candidacy in her political history given the need in the city for “management with planning and concrete achievements, the National District deserves a focused city council in caring for people with services that work”, he claimed.
During a press conference, Camilo, who was recently sworn in as president of the Socialist International Women, indicated that an example of the discomfort that this area of the Dominican capital is currently experiencing is the trauma left by the rain on November 4 ” That devastating rain that did not find an adequate pluvial system that allowed it to run, swept away the hopes of many people.”

He pointed out that during his career of more than 30 years in Dominican politics, he has learned to differentiate between important and urgent tasks, “among the urgent tasks that the National District needs to be resolved are storm drainage, traffic, lighting, design urban development, as well as poor management in garbage collection”.
In this sense, he said he understood that there are ills that affect the National District that have increased over the years, “and that is why I call for you to support this candidacy and form work teams that allow us to achieve a healthy National District , cultured and prepared”.
Camilo emphasized that “Passion for my city” is a municipal government proposal in which social and municipal groups, religious associations, clubs and neighborhood associations are already integrated, with whom he works and will work together to identify urgent problems of each neighborhood and thus execute the actions that adjust to the solution of the problem that affects the conglomerate.
“On the path that we formally begin today towards the mayor’s office of the National District, we will rethink the course of the city council and we will recover the spirit of the mayor’s office that was built by those who have been, are and will be my teachers: José Francisco Peña Gómez and Fello Suberví” he added.
