The PAN says that its election of presidential candidate will be made in an open process

The Va por México coalition made up of the PAN, Institutional Revolutionary (PRI) and Democratic Revolution (PRD) parties agreed -even with reservations from the latter party- that the 2024 presidential candidacy will be defined in a process led by the PAN members, according to to its rules, and that party will seal the postulation.

The PRD leader, Jesús Zambrano, who has expressed his reservations regarding the PAN concentrating this process, has demanded that the definition be in process in which civil society organizations can participate, while members of these have supported this vision, to give more support to the opposition postulation.

This Wednesday, January 25, in the plenary session of federal deputies, in Tamaulipas, Cortés acknowledged that “of course in the PAN we have those who are good, and of course I would like it to be people from Acción Nacional, but we must always put We must always put the greater good of the country first.”

That is why before choosing any candidacy “we will have to define if he is the right person, to win and to govern Mexico well,” he said.

He anticipated that forums are being prepared where interested parties can participate, but he insisted that in the PAN “let no one have any doubts, we are not moved to have a candidacy, we are moved to change Mexico.”

In short -he said- “we will summon all those interested to express their ideas, to express their proposals, to speak and say what they want, to have forums, debates and the time will come to define, and we will thinking about what is best for Mexico”.

Before the legislators, Cortés Mendoza asked to take out in the regular session of Congress that begins on February 1 and will end on the last day of April, all pending issues on his legislative agenda. Afterwards, “we are all going to be in the campaigns,” since the electoral process of 20204 will begin in September or November, if Plan B for the electoral reform materializes, he said.

He demanded that they not stop going to sessions of the legislative committees, give the debate and be attentive to “avoid there being legislative fastballs”, that is, surprise initiatives that pass and then cannot be reversed.
