Republican Senator Marco Rubio on Wednesday criticized the plan to parole humanitarian program implemented earlier this month by the Biden administration for Cubans, Nicaraguans, Venezuelans and Haitians.
Asked about the lawsuit that 20 Republican states have just filed for the creation of the new plan, Rubio said he understood the reasons why they had done so. “These programs,” he said, “come at a cost to the states.” He stressed that, for example, the uncontrolled arrival of immigrants affects the operation of public hospitals.
The lawsuit seeks to block the program, which allows the monthly entry of 30,000 emigrants from those four nations.
But the senator was not entirely accurate. One of the conditions of the new parole humanitarian is precisely that emigrants enter with the sponsorship of a resident or citizen. And that he bears all the expenses of the sponsored during the duration of the parolethat is, two years.
