The late acquisition of the tag represents RD$2,000.00 more

“We Dominicans leave everything to the last minute.” This is what many Creoles say when they see the long lines of people in the different dependencies and agencies of the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII) that have been earmarked for the renewal of the tag, to avoid surcharges in the payment of the circulation tax.

The images show how public squares in the early hours of Monday night are crowded in search of the tag of this year 2022.

According to data supplied by DGII To Hoy Digital, until 5:00 in the afternoon of this January 31, the last day to comply with the payment of the tax, more than one million 413 thousand vehicles had already complied with said requirement, which represents a collection of 2 million 328 thousand 609 pesos.

Remember that the surcharge for late acquisition of the tags is RD$2,000.00, which means that users must pay between RD$3,500.00 and RD$5,500.00 depending on the year of manufacture of the vehicle.

According to the data offered in the last six days (from the 26th to the 31st of this month) a total of 253 thousand 940 vehicles have renewed their tags.

Several days ago, the DGII reported on the capture of a man found in flagrante delicto while trading labels false in the province of San Cristóbal.

After hard work of research in coordination with agencies intelligence of the State, there was a raid on the residence of the individual where 67 forged tags were seized, many of these with numbers repeated multiple times.

The individual, whose identity is withheld for legal reasons, was carrying the labels fake in one Bible to mislead the authorities and sold them at a price of RD$900.00
