In the face of the aggressions and sanctions of the North American empire, the unity and integration of the peoples is the only way that the countries of the region have as a challenge to assume to guarantee development and sovereignty, highlighted the chancellor of the Republic of VenezuelaYvan Gil.
In a televised interview from Argentina, where the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) was held, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister explained that the only way to confront the aggression and onslaught of the North American empire is through the unity, with the resources that integration has.
He added integration based on solidarity and complementarity is not only with CELAC, but with other mechanisms such as the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP).
“The times ahead are very interesting and they present us with a fundamental challenge that the 33 countries of this Community will face together,” said a note of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Creation of a regional currency
For Foreign Minister Yván Gil, the proposal of the president of BrazilInácio Lula da Silva, regarding the creation of a regional currency, as a payment mechanism, is a step to achieve the economic independence of the region.
“The use of the dollar is a weapon of repression against the peoples,” he emphasized.
In this sense, he added that Venezuela sees this proposal “with good eyes” and hopes that “it will soon begin to bear fruit.”
Given the absence of Brazil in the integration mechanism, Gil stressed: “We are very happy with the return of Brazil, after its absence in the last four years and that gives CELAC strength.”
Chancellor appreciates calls to remove blockade
On the other hand, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yván Gil, thanked the solidarity of the President of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, who made his position very clear to ask that all unilateral coercive measures against Venezuela be lifted.
