Venezuela only reported two new cases of covid-19 during #23Jan

1,044 days after the arrival of covid-19 in Venezuela was decreed, a total of 551,297 cases and 544,614 recovered patients are reported. There are currently 843 active cases of the virus of which 48 are in the ICU


The Minister of Communication and Information, Freddy Ñáñez, reported that only two new covid-19 infections were registered during the day of Monday, January 23 in Venezuela; one in the Sucre parish of the Capital District and the other in the Chacao municipality of Miranda state.

For the rest, the states of Zulia, Táchira, Mérida, Trujilo, Apure, Barinas, Falcón, Lara, Portuguesa, Yaracuy, Cojedes, Amazonas, Guárico, Carabobo, Aragua, Vargas, Anzoátegui, Monagas, Bolívar, Delta Amacuro, Sucre and Nueva Esparta They did not report new cases of the disease during the day.

It was also not known whether travelers with covid-19 arrived in the country, since since the PCR test was eliminated at the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, the numbers of infections from abroad are not published.

The statistics on the day of January 23, 2023, published by Ñáñez in his social media, indicate a small increase in the total number of covid-19 cases that Venezuela reports daily. In this sense, 1,044 days after the detection of the first infections on March 13, 2020, a total of 551,297 and 544,614 recovered patients are reported, which according to official data represents 99% of overcoming the disease.

Currently, there are 843 active cases of covid-19 in the country according to the figures released by the authorities, of which 48 are treated in the public network of hospitals; 72 in Comprehensive Diagnostic Centers (CDI), 32 in private clinics and 691 people who are in home isolation or “supervised community care”.

Of the total of 843 active cases of the virus registered in the country, 507 are due to asymptomatic patients; 189 to those with mild respiratory failure; 99 with moderate breathing problems and 48 who are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units due to the complexity of their condition due to covid-19.

Minister Freddy Ñáñez indicated that on Wednesday, January 23, 2023, no new deaths were registered as a result of covid-19, so the number of deaths remains at 5,840.
