Direct, indirect and induced jobs related to the exports they were reduced in November 2022 by 2.7% compared to the same month in 2021, reported the Center for Research on Global Economy and Business of the CIEN-ADEX Exporters Association.
Said result translated into 401,175 job positions, which implied 11,257 fewer than in the comparison month of 2021.
“This is explained by the contraction of jobs linked to primary shipments, mainly traditional mining (-28.6%) that totaled 75,934, when in November 2021 it reached 106,381. It demanded less labor to the extraction and processing of minerals due to political and social instability”, highlighted the union.
Adex added that “the general drop could have been greater, but it was lessened by the jobs generated by the non-traditional sector, especially agribusiness.” The latter generated 180,492 jobs, which showed an increase of 8.3%, 13,850 more compared to November 2021.
Others were clothing (26,534), fishing and aquaculture (13,176), non-metallic mining (7,288), iron and steel industry (5,368), miscellaneous (3,716), textiles (3,644), chemicals (3,320), metal mechanics (3,130) and woods (1,733), with variations of -1.6%, 21.6%, 27.5%, -18.2%, -1%, -28.5%, -11.8%, 5.7% and -24.9%, respectively.
According to the CIEN-ADEX report, in November 2022 there were 8 items that showed negative numbers in job creation, while only 6 increased their demand.
