Venezuela received a first batch of 1,000 vehicles manufactured in Iran and expects the arrival of 2,000 more in February, as part of bilateral agreements signed between both governments, the Minister of Transportation, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, reported this Sunday, January 22.
Through from Twitter, The minister showed images of the cars on Venezuelan soil. He explained that the cars are “Saipa” brand, while in February 2,000 more IKCO brand will be added, for a total of “four vehicle models for the domestic market.”
“In a second stage they will be assembled in Venirauto -a company established in 2006 with Venezuelan-Iranian capital and located in the state of Aragua- with components made” in the country, Velásquez said.
The minister had anticipated last November that a thousand vehicles from Iran would arrive in Venezuela as part of the alliance between the governments, but this year he increased the number of Iranian cars that they expect to receive in the first quarter to 3,000.
