Former Commander General of the National Police javier gallardo and three others investigated for the case of alleged irregular promotions in the Police, were released today after the Judiciary declared unfounded the request for preventive detention against them made by the Public ministry.
Judge Leodan Cristóbal Ayala dismissed the prosecutor’s request for 36 months of preventive detention against former PNP commander Javier Gallardo Mendoza; General Luis Enrique Legua Egocheaga; the major PNP (r) Luis Ángel Tuesta Ramón and the non-commissioned officer Jorge Tarrillo who, as is known, was an escort of the coup leader Pedro Castillo during his administration as president of the Republic.

In the hearing, which was held virtually, Judge Cristóbal Ayala indicated that the prerequisites required by law to impose preventive detention against the aforementioned have not been met.
He added that the four investigated will face the preparatory investigation process under a mandate to appear with restrictions and subject to rules of conduct and impediment to leaving the country for 36 months. Each one of them, in addition, must pay economic guarantees that range between 4,000 thousand and 10,000 soles.
After learning of the ruling, the Public Ministry reported that the Special Team of Prosecutors against Corruption of Power appealed the decision.
