Colombia News.
The councilman of Manizalez, Juan Osorio, involved in a controversy after setting up an InDriver driver to have his vehicle immobilized, spoke and said that he apologized “to Don Carlos for having made it viral on social networks,” but insisted that the service he provided is illegal.
The gap that exists in the regulation of digital platforms and the lack of a clear standard for the transport service provided through it, has generated multiple problems in several cities in the country.
From taxi driver chases to app drivers, fights, accidents and more, and there has been no shortage of traps to immobilize vehicles.
According to the Manizales councilor, a former taxi driver, Don Carlos provided an illegal service.
«At no time was our intention for it to come out as it is. It has been very uncomfortable that people are so passionate and are even threatening us with death,” said Osorio.
«We cannot hide behind the fact that what is legal has to hide among what is illegal», he pointed.
The fine imposed on the InDriver driver was millions, his vehicle was immobilized although his license was not suspended.
However, if he is sanctioned again for the same infraction that is defined in the traffic law, he would lose it for several years.

The councilman has been harshly questioned about the trap he set for the driver, because he requested the service to drive him to a traffic police checkpoint.
This case has once again opened a harsh debate on the regulation of the passenger transport service through platforms, which some point out are even used by taxis.

The Manizales driver is the tip of an iceberg.
Evading the police who treat those who work with Uber/Didi/Indriver as criminals is the daily life of ~80,000 drivers in Colombia.
