The Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (inumet) ceased the yellow alert for “strong storms” that was in force for the north of the country from 2:35 p.m.
In any case, the agency informs that “meteorological surveillance is maintained”.
In the area covered by the alert, which covered a large part of the departments of artigas and jumpwere anticipated “intense rains in short periods, hail fall, intense electrical activity and strong gusts of wind”indicated the service on its website.

The situation, according to Inumet, was caused by a “moist and unstable air mass” that “affects the country”which generated some “occasionally strong” storms.
The warning, in turn, was updated at 3:35 p.m. and slightly expanded its area.

Jump: Arapey, Belén, Biassini, Campo de Todos, Cayetano, Cerro de Vera, Colonia Itapebí, Fernández, Itapebí, Lluveras, Migliaro, Puntas de Valentín, Quintana, Rincon de Valentín, Sarandí de Arapey, Saucedo and Termas del Arapey.
