The former vice president of the Republic and candidate for the presidential nomination of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Margarita Cedeno He said that the environment of insecurity, disability and deterioration in the leadership of the State have placed the middle class and the popular sectors in a situation of hardship.
He stated that an example of this is the increase in fuels and gas for cooking.
“The most dramatic case is that of cooking gas, a basic input for Dominican families that today costs 146.6 pesos a gallon, when in August 2020, it cost 111, that is, 35 pesos more. A household that used to spend 1,380 pesos to fill a 50-pound gas tank, today has to pay 1,830 pesos, 450 pesos more,” said the PLD presidential candidate.
During her speech, the past deputy president affirmed that the PRM government “It has put the middle class in trouble” due to high fuel prices, claiming that the Dominican family has not received the economic development that the current authorities proclaim.

He stated that it has been necessary for the government promote “public policies that cushion the blow of inflation for those who can least afford it,” which has resulted in high prices for rice, chicken, cooking gas, and other supplies.
“It is no secret to anyone that the cost of living has risen to unattainable levels for the majority,” said Dr. Cedeño at the event, which was attended by members of the Political Committee, the Central Committee and leaders of the Party of the Dominican Liberation who support their political project.
The members of the Simón Lizardo Political Committee, national campaign coordinator, Cristina Lizardo, Jaime David Fernández Mirabal and Armando García participated in the meeting.
