Minimum salary would be RD$28,350 with a 35% proposal

With the proposal of trade union centrals of the Dominican Republic that a 35% increase is made to employees of the non-sectorized private sector, the collaborators of large companies would earn a minimum salary of 28,350 pesos per month.

Instead, the medium businesses they would have to pay 25,988 pesos; the small ones 17,415 pesos; microenterprises would go from 11,900 pesos to 16,065 pesos per month; the guards from 17,250 pesos to 23,288 pesos each month; the field workers would receive about 625 pesos for their day shift and not the current 500 pesos.

“The proposal of the union sector puts on the table a 35.0% increase in the minimum wages of the non-sectorized private sector, which we base on economic criteria, but also and, above all, on criteria of justice, equity and co-participation of labor in the development of the country”, indicate the trade union centrals in the proposal delivered to the National Wage Committee.

The National Wage Committee met this Thursday at the facilities of the Ministry of Labor. At the meeting, a letter from the businessmen was presented through the Employers’ Confederation of the Dominican Republic (Copardom), where they request a week for them to present their representatives.

“Most of the business entities is in a process of change and/or swearing in of its governing bodies that have prevented the selection of representatives of the employer sector in the discussion process”, indicates the letter signed by Pedro Rodríguez, executive vice president of the Copardom.

The document that was read by the director of the CNS, Angel Martin Mieseswhere it is also stated, “We appreciate that you grant us a week from this date so that, jointly, the organizations identify our member and spokespersons before the bodies that you direct.”

At the meeting of National Wage Committee the representatives of the union confederations of the country were present; Autonomous Classist Union (CASC), National of Dominican Workers (CNTD), National Confederation of Union Unity (CNUS), among others.

  3. Medium-sized companies, from 51 to 150 workers and sales from 54 to 202 million pesos in annual sales
  4. Large companies, with more than 150 workers and more than 202 million pesos in annual gross sales.
