Negotiation of the board of directors of the TGU Palmira port terminal with workers

Negotiation of the board of directors of the TGU Palmira port terminal with workers

The general manager of TGU, Fabrizio Solía, contacted EL ECO last week to explain the progress of the negotiation that “began in September and October of last year, trying to protect the source of work for our staff.” It was then that “we proposed a round of negotiation with the staff of the TGU -Nueva Palmira port terminal-, being tripartite (company, union and Ministry of Labor), and we are reaching the end, said the chief last week in the print edition of THE ECHO.

“We have had several meetings, with much correction from both parties, in a good dialogue. Our main point is to try to bring the agreement to what is the reality of the company”. On the one hand, it was raised “that they give us more flexibility at work, and other points were related to shifts and schedules.”

“The fundamental thing is that the current agreement established up to 26 insured wages to work per month, and our business is seasonal, we even did the count and in 10 of the 12 months of the year there are not 26 working days.” In this sense, “we intend to make some adjustments to make it more sustainable.” Our latest proposal is an annual minimum of 22 calls per month, which is 274 per year, and ensuring that in no month there are less than 18 wages, because we understand that our people need a minimum of wages”.

On the other hand, “we have agreed work schedules, changing shifts to be healthier; and to the shift rotation regime, do it forward to avoid 8 x 8, so that the worker has at least 12 hours of rest between daily wages ”, explained Solía

“It has been progressing in a good way and we are excited and confident that the union understands our reality and accepts it. We believe that it is a reasonable proposal, which implies for us the effort to continue with a high load of fixed wages, and betting on the source of work ”, he concluded.
