SANTO DOMINGO.- Of the two people confirmed as trapped under the rubble of the building of the commercial company R&S Multimueble in La Vega, the authorities have only been able to contact one of them.
This was reported by Senator de la Vega, Ramón Rogelio Genao, who asked for a prayer chain to rescue those trapped alive.
He indicated that so far some 13 people have been rescued alive by an elite team from the National District Fire Department, the Armed Forces and the Emergency Operations Center.
“At this moment the Administrative Minister of the Presidency and the president himself have just arrived at the place, he has been monitoring the situation since noon,” said Genao.
The commercial company R&S Multimueble said this afternoon that two of its employees are trapped under the rubble after the collapse of its main building, located on Las Carreras street, Esquina Sánchez, La Vega.
According to a statement issued by said company, the competent authorities are carrying out rescue work.
“At the moment only two members of our team are trapped under the rubble and with whom the authorities have already established communication.”
Through the document, the company announced that the collapsed building was over 30 years old.
