First lady regrets the collapse
On the other hand, the First Lady of the Republic, Raquel Arbaje, lamented the collapse of the building from the Multimuebles store, where several people were left trapped.

At the time of the collapse, inside the structure were clients, operational and administrative personnel, from whom several people have been rescued.
So far no fatalities have been reported.
It was reported that the structure collapsed when a column was allegedly removed while remodeling work was being carried out on the building.
Meanwhile, the spokesman for the La Vega Fire Department, César Abreu, reported that there was also a fire at the scene. «It is already fully controlled, we saved the three levels. It was in one of the rooms that the fire started. Everything is controlled thanks to the help of Edenorte, the Police, basically the efforts of everyone present. Consequently, the building did not suffer great losses nor was there anything human to regret ».
Rescue continues
Relief teams seek to rescue two women, including a pregnant one, trapped by the collapse and landslide of the Multimuebles building in La Vega.
The rescue operation is led by General Juan Manuel Méndez, director of the COE; together with the general of the La Vega fire brigade, Cesar Abreu. Likewise, the mayor of the head municipality Kelvin Cruz and the provincial governor.
Méndez asked for patience and highlighted the efforts made by rescuers. Four other injured remain stable at the Luis Morillo King regional hospital.
For his part, Cesar Abreu said that the difficulties could prevent the two trapped ladies from being rescued. Telephone contact has allowed communication with the pregnant lady, but not with the other woman.
