Tlahuelilpan explosion turns 4 years old and the memorial has not yet been completed

Due to the strong pressure of the hydrocarbon and little technical knowledge in handling these pipes, it got out of control and the liquid began to gush massively, rising several meters. It was then that people began to approach in the hope of collecting the fuel to sell it later, even without knowing that this constituted a crime and that their lives were at risk.

Four years after this tragedy, “ground zero” is almost abandoned, despite the fact that since 2019 the federal government promised the construction of a memorial, but said work has not materialized.

In January 2020, representatives of the state and federal governments participated in a ceremony in which the first stone of the Collective Memorial to be built on the site was symbolically laid.

Despite the fact that the construction of the memorial is still pending, the residents continue to remember these events and this Wednesday, in the same place where they have built some chapels, a mass will be held to remember the deceased.

The municipal government reported this Tuesday that, at the request and in solidarity with relatives and relatives, cleaning work was carried out at the site, prior to the fourth anniversary of the tragedy.
