The Government of Venezuela rejected that the United States (USA) reiterate that it will continue with its “failed policy” of applying unilateral coercive measures against the country.
This was reported by Foreign Minister Yván Gil in his account on the social network Twitter, through which he pointed out that the permanence of this aggression places the US administration “outside International Law”
“Venezuela rejects the statements of the Department of State reiterating the continuity of its failed policy of aggression through Unilateral Coercive Measures: a crime against humanity that places them outside International Law,” the Minister for Foreign Affairs published.
The affirmation is given in response to a press report in which a spokesman for the State Department of USA assures that his government will keep its sanctions policy “intact”, despite the recent President Maduro’s request to lift these extraterritorial measures that harm the human rights of the people and the national economy.
“We might think that after the recurring US failures In his fantasy of overthrowing @NicolasMaduro, arrogance and immorality would be a thing of the past. The only thing intact today is the will of our people to overcome the claims of imperialist vileness,” added the Foreign Minister, thus highlighting the strength and resilience of the Venezuelan people.
Venezuela has received 928 sanctions
With respect to unilateral coercive measures, the Venezuelan government has recorded 928 imposed by the US administration in a period of seven years, for which reason it filed a complaint with the International Criminal Court (ICC) in February 2020 for crimes against humanity, remember a note from the Chancellery.
Another aspect to remember is that Alena Douhan, United Nations special rapporteur on the negative impact of unilateral coercive measures on the enjoyment of human rights, determined in February 2021 that coercive measures have had “devastating effects” on the lives of the Venezuelans.
