The covid-19 information bulletin of January 17, 2023 does not contain information on possible cases coming from abroad. This information is no longer published since the second PCR test that was carried out on Venezuelan soil was eliminated at the beginning of the year.

The Minister of Communication and Information, Freddy Ñáñez, reported that seven new cases of covid-19 were recorded on Monday, January 16, 2023 in four of the 24 entities in the country.

Yaracuy was the entity that recorded the most new cases in the last hours by reporting three new infections in two of its 14 municipalities: Independencia (2) and San Felipe (1).

This state was followed by Miranda (2), the Capital District (1) and Falcón (1).

Meanwhile, Zulia, Táchira, Mérida, Trujillo, Apure, Barinas, Lara, Portuguesa, Cojedes, Carabobo, Aragua, Guárico, Amazonas, Bolívar, Vargas, Anzoátegui, Monagas, Delta Amacuro, Sucre and Nueva Esparta did not report new covid infections -19 in the last hours.

There is also no information in the Ñáñez report on the possible new cases that arrive in Venezuela from abroad, since on January 1 a measure came into force in which the performance of a second covid-19 test was lifted in the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía and from there, the monitoring of eventual patients arriving from abroad is no longer being published.

The statistics on the day of January 16, 2023, published by Ñáñez in his social media, indicate a small increase in the total number of covid-19 cases that Venezuela reports daily. In this sense, 1,037 days after the detection of the first infections on March 13, 2020, a total of 551,031 and 544,461 recovered patients are reported, which according to official data represents 99% of overcoming the disease.

Currently, there are 733 active cases of covid-19 in the country according to the figures released by the authorities, of which 45 are treated in the public network of hospitals; 75 in Comprehensive Diagnostic Centers (CDI), 28 in private clinics and 585 people who are in home isolation or “supervised community care”.

Of the total of 733 active cases of the virus registered in the country, 437 are due to asymptomatic patients; 160 to those with mild respiratory failure; 90 with moderate breathing problems and 46 who are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units due to the complexity of their condition due to covid-19.
