INE: dialogue is essential, its denial is typical of authoritarian mentalities

In response to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who last Friday criticized that Córdova had met with the federal deputies of the PAN, the counselor reversed:

“The strange, reckless and reprehensible thing would have been that as head of the State body in charge of protecting democracy I had refused to meet.”

At the INE, he explained, we permanently interact with all political actors “it is our right and our obligation”.

“Can you imagine an electoral authority that does not interact respectfully, publicly and openly with legislative parties, officials of all governments, authorities of the Judicial Power and other autonomous people?”, he questioned.

Córdova Vianello said that he decided to accept all invitations to participate in meetings with political forces to build the legislative agenda and discuss public affairs.

The official recalled that in 2020 he was invited to meet with the Morena bench, however – he added – it did not materialize, although he asserted that all channels are still open.
