Parliament of Ecuador will resume face-to-face work

The instance will work with a capacity of 50 percent of the possible capacity, as agreed, by unanimous vote, the six members of the CAL attending the session of this ornate.

The new regime will replace the virtual meetings adopted due to the increase in cases of Covid-19 within Parliament.

The measure will apply to the meetings of the permanent and occasional specialized commissions, the multipurpose rooms and other offices of the Legislative Palace.

It will also be necessary to comply with the strict application of the established biosafety regulations such as distancing, permanent use of a mask, hand washing and disinfection of spaces.

For the changes in the protocol, the CAL took into account the report of the Occupational Health Unit of the National Assembly, in which it is determined that the epidemiological curve presents a downward trend in the last week of January 2022, according to data from the National Emergency Operations Committee.

For the return to presence, assembly members and other legislative servants must present a negative antigen or PCR-type test.

The coordinators and immediate heads of the administrative units of the Assembly will be in charge of establishing the attendance of officials within the 50 percent capacity.

On the other hand, those who are in a vulnerable condition, have pre-existing diseases or infectious conditions will continue to telecommute.

Meanwhile, people who have been in contact with positive patients for Covid-19 or with suspicions due to symptoms associated with the disease must report it to update the epidemiological registry.
