Laura Vargas, secretary of the Interreligious Council of Peru indicated that “people need to be heard and we as a community of faith are willing to open up those spaces, because we are all Peruvians, no one can be above others, we want them to be stop the violence and let there be justice, we are available to travel wherever necessary, we are going to sit with the people, listen to each other and see the path of peace”.
In addition, he indicated that to trace those paths of peace, they must sit among them and have a previous conversation.

The proposal to seek help in the Interreligious Council of Peru was made by the former president, Francisco Sagasti in RPP. “What I propose is to establish – I would not say a dialogue, because at this moment we are not ready for a dialogue directly – some communication bridges between different points of view in our country. When it is not possible to dialogue directly, especially when there is a multiplicity of points of view, a valid interlocutor is sought who can talk with the different groups”, he specified.
This is where he pointed out that the interlocutors should be the members of this council. “We have a diversity of points of view from the regions and ideologies. Instead of being a polarization, what there is is a kind of atomization of different positions, in which a group is entrenched in its own and does not want to listen to the rest ”, he assured.
