The flow of the Choqueyapu River grew by 88 centimeters, it was the most outstanding event due to the rains, reveals a report issued by the Municipal Secretariat of Comprehensive Risk Management (Smgir). This made the Mayor’s Office, yesterday, attend 43 emergency cases.

The municipal report revealed that the cause of the cases was the obstruction of the drains, in 31 of the cases attended, in addition to three water leaks in homes.

Rainfall between 6:00 on Friday and 6:00 on Saturday was moderate. “Temporarily strong in the basins of the Choqueyapu, Orkojahuira and Irpavi rivers, which maintains the yellow alert in the municipality,” according to the report. The emergency cases attended in this month of January already add up to 1,168.

Among the cases handled by Smgir staff is the erosion of the land at the foot of the slope and the seepage of water into the Katari Pasankeri river in the same area, at the height of the Kilometer 7 market. The aforementioned erosion caused the sill to of the channel weakens the transversal barrier, which was rebuilt by the municipal staff.

Likewise, the report indicated that in the Laucas III river of Chasquipampa, the reconstruction and repair of the gabion walls was carried out. At the same time, on Muñoz Reyes street, at the height of the Kupicho bridge, in the 8 de Diciembre sector, the gullies were filled with alluvial material, since the type of soil is not stable in the area.
