Cuba records temperature below 4.0 degrees

MADRID, Spain.- At 4:00 in the morning this Monday, 32 of 68 weather stations reported temperatures below or equal to 10 °C in Cuba.

The lowest were reported in the Indio Hatuey town, Matanzas province, with 3.7 °C and in Bainoa, Mayabeque province, reported through the social network Twitter, Elier Pila Fariñas, associate researcher at the Institute of Meteorology (INSMET).

Until 1:00 in the morning in Indio Hatuey, 4.4 °C had been recorded, in Colón (Matanzas) 4.9 °C, in Venezuela (Ciego de Ávila) 6.2 °C, in Aguada de Pasajeros (Cienfuegos) 6.3 °C, in Bainoa 6.5 °C, in Tapaste (Mayabeque) 7.0 °C, in Santo Domingo (Villa Clara) 7.2 °C, in Topes de Collantes (Sancti Spíritus) 7.7 °C and in Gran Piedra (Santiago de Cuba) 7.8 °C.

According to the weather report for this Monday, shared by Cubadebate, during the day temperatures will reach maximums between 22 and 25 degrees Celsius in the west and center of the country, while in the east they will be between 26 and 29 degrees Celsius.

From the afternoon the temperatures will begin to drop and the next morning will once again be remarkably cold in the interior of western Cuba, with minimum temperatures between 5 and 8 degrees Celsius. In the center and the east, temperatures will be between 9 and 12 degrees Celsius, as well as between 13 and 16 degrees Celsius in the eastern south.

At dawn from Saturday to Sunday, according to Elier Pila Fariñas, 21 stations from Artemisa to Ciego de Ávila (except Havana and Isla de la Juventud) reported values ​​of 10 °C or less until 7:00 in the morning.

These temperatures are unusual on the Island, which generally, in the coldest months of the year (from November to April) registers minimum temperatures between 18 and 21 degrees.
