The Chavista-majority National Assembly reported that deputy Ricardo Molina met several Chilean counterparts over the weekend. According to a press release from the Legislature, after the meetings of the parliamentarian, who also chairs the Permanent Commission on Ecosocialism, “there were positive expectations regarding the normalization of relations between both peoples and States.”
The National Assembly (AN) elected in 2020 seeks to strengthen its friendship ties with the Chilean Parliament. The Legislature reported that the deputy for the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Ricardo Molina, held several meetings with his Chilean counterparts on Sunday, January 15.
Through a Press release, AN-2020 explained that Molina, who chairs the Permanent Commission on Ecosocialism, met with deputy Boris Barrera, head of the bloc of the Communist Party of Chile; with the legislator Ana María Gazmuri, member of the Humanist Action Party, and with the independent deputy Patricio Rosas.

Molina talked about the possible reincorporation of Venezuela into the Andean Parliament and the importance of strengthening the progressive bloc in that space. In addition, the CCP promised to designate a deputy as responsible for “activating and consolidating” the “friendship group” between the two nations.
The Venezuelan deputy also met with the mayor of the Recoleta commune in the Metropolitan Region, Daniel Jadue, leader of the Chilean Communist Party, who expressed his interest in visiting Caracas to exchange government experiences with his Venezuelan counterparts and proposed that some of they will visit the capital of that country, to show the structure of the local government that he leads.
In the press release, the Chavista-majority AN assured that others from Venezuela are interested in exploring agreements for Chileans to access to study at the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM), based in Caracas.
According to the note published on the website of the assembly “positive expectations remained regarding the normalization of relations between both peoples and States.”
