The products of the agroindustry boosted non-traditional or value-added Peruvian exports to China between January and November of last year. These totaled US$636.2 million in that period, as reported by the Association of Exporters (ADEX).
The result reported by the exporting union was 7.3% higher than that of the same months of 2021.
“The most important subsector was the agroindustry with US$332.5 million and a growth of 69% thanks to the demand for blueberries, fresh grapes, avocado, powdered tara, among others”, reported ADEX.
In second place was fishing for Direct Human Consumption (CHD) with US$198.3 million and a decrease of -27.3%. His most requested items were livers, roes and milk; prawns and frozen and canned squid.
It was followed by textiles with US$27.2 million, wood with US$23 million, chemicals with US$18.6 million, clothing with US$13.5 million, non-metallic mining with US$10.8 million, metalworking US$10.1 million and iron and steel with US$1 million.
PRIMARY SECTOR
Meanwhile, the primary sector concentrated 96.7% of the total, reaching US$18.4 million (-1%). Mining and traditional fishing presented decreases of -2.2% and -1.8%, respectively, while hydrocarbons was the most dynamic subsector, growing 654.9%, which together with traditional agriculture (24.6%) were the only positive items.
At a general level, Peruvian exports to China between January and November 2022 totaled US$19,070.5 million, reflecting a slight decline of -0.7% compared to the same period in 2021.
ADEX explained that this was explained “mainly by the lower demand for products from the traditional sector, reported the Association of Exporters (ADEX).”
“Despite the general drop, value-added shipments maintain good dynamism -especially agribusiness-, partly thanks to the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) that both nations have been in force since March 1, 2010,” he said. the exporting union.
