The Public Ministry is investigating a new act of femicide registered in the municipality of Cotoca. The victim has not yet been identified and is presumed to be between 20 and 30 years of age, The forensic medical examination determined that he died of mechanical asphyxia due to strangulation and has a date of death of 24 hours before the intervention, according to the departmental prosecutor, Róger Mariaca.
“Once the fact is known, the Public Ministry through the multidisciplinary team mobilized to the municipality of Cotoca to collect the evidence such as taking statements from neighbors, material and biological evidence, and the legal removal of the body for the autopsy to be performed,” said Mariaca.
The prosecutor assigned to the case, Francisco Mendoza, said that the event became known on January 15, 2023 at 07:20 a.m., when residents of the town of Campanero, in the municipality of Cotoca, alerted the Police about the discovery of the lifeless body of a woman with visible signs of violence.
