Hurricane winds blow in the Cuban ball

Mayabeque knew how to come from behind on three occasions to finally prevail today 11-6 over Sancti Spíritus, and thus maintain the unbeaten record and the top of the standings in the LXI National Baseball Series, which closed its second particular sub-series.

Font pitched eight innings with two hits and three strikeouts, while Luis Fonseca earned his second save. Veteran Yosvany Torres was a worthy rival on the mound, as he pitched six innings with just one hit and four strikeouts.

Both teams had just three singles and two errors. Outfielder Yoelkis Guibert stood out at bat, who went 1-3 with a solo home run.

In addition, Villa Clara knocked out Camagüey 12-2 in seven chapters. First baseman Reidel Pedraza was the spark plug for the Azucareros, going 2-4 with a triple and four RBIs, to support the work of winner Elier Carrillo.

And the Isle of Youth defeated Holguín 3-0 supported by the bat of second baseman Dainier Gálvez, who went 3-3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI, and on the effective relief of Alberto Hechavarría, owner of the victory by throwing 5.0 innings to the sound of two hits.

In the remaining results, the exponent monarch Granma defeated Industriales 2-1, with full pitching from right-hander Joel Mojena, who already has a couple of wins like Font from Santiago; the national bronze Las Tunas beat Cienfuegos 5-1 and Artemisa 3-0 Guantánamo.
