The creation of formal employment continues to slow down, according to data from the BCR

The Total formal employment nationwide grew 4.4% in November 2022, adding 249,000 jobs compared to the same month in 2021, according to data from the Central Reserve Bank ().

However, the information from the BCR reveals that this advance was less than that registered in August (6.1%), September (5.3%), and October (5%).

Regarding formal private jobs, they increased by 5.8%, in the penultimate month of the year, however this growth was also lower than those registered between August and October.

By sectors, the Central Reserve Bank pointed out that “the increase in jobs in the formal private sector occurred mainly in the Services sector with a rate of 9.6%.”

The other side of the coin was recorded in the Fishing category, where jobs fell by 2.3%. The Agricultural (-0.7%), and the Construction (-0.3%) also registered results in red.

BALANCE OF TRADE

On the other hand, the BCR revealed that the trade balance accumulated in the last 12 months reached a surplus of US$9,714 million as of November 2022.

“Exports totaled US$4,934 million in November, 21.4% lower than those of November 2021, due to lower prices and volumes of traditional products. From January to November, foreign sales amounted to US$59,559 million, 4.9% higher than those of the same period of 2021,” explained the issuing entity.

For their part, imports amounted to US$4,662 million in the penultimate month, which meant an increase of 10.7%. The accumulated in 11 months was US$51,709 million.
