Man who was a fugitive convicted of gender-based violence in Santiago is re-arrested

Reapresan hombre estaba prófugo condenado por violencia de género en Santiago

SANTIAGO.- An operational team from the Department of Capture of Fugitives, Rebels and Convicted of the Santiago Prosecutor’s Office arrested a man who was a fugitive after a conviction against him for exercising violence towards a woman.

This is Carlos Ramón Santana Díaz sentenced to five years in prison for violation of article 309, numerals 1, 2 and 3, literal E, of Law 24-97, on Gender Violence, for exercising aggravated gender violence to the detriment of Verónica del Carmen Cruz Vásquez.

The capture of today’s convicted person is endorsed by criminal resolution 371-01-2023 of January 5, issued by Judge Rubén Darío Cruz Uceta, of the First Chamber of the Sentence Execution Court of this judicial department.

The ruling against him emanated from the Third Collegiate Court of this judicial district, on October 30, 2019, the date from which he evaded serving the sentence.
