The Consulate of Spain in Argentina enabled new shifts for all Argentines interested in carrying out the process of the Spanish citizenshipwithin the framework of the Grandchildren Law approved last October by the Congress of the European country.
The regulations allow descendants of Spaniards to process the Spanish citizenship directly, because the law facilitates access routes to the European document.
People interested in having this benefit and accessing the Spanish citizenship, they can do it from Argentina. To do this, it is necessary to fill out a form and meet some requirements.
In addition, it is necessary to present documents such as: the Spanish birth certificate of the father or mother that gives citizenship (it will not be necessary if it is registered in the Civil Registry of the Consulate or in one of Spain). This document is requested from the website of the Ministry of Justice of Spain.
The birth certificate of the person seeking citizenship is also required.which is issued by the Argentine Civil Registry and must be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Likewise, the marriage certificate of the parents of the interested party is required, as well as the Spanish passport of the Spanish father or mother or their death certificate, in addition to the Argentine ID of the person giving the nationality and of the person who wants to receive it.
The Spanish Consulate reported that the appointments for procedures are established through their website. Although the shifts began to be assigned from this Thursday at 9:00 a.m., the diplomatic agency reported: “Appointments will be enabled periodically until all people who have the right, and want, can do so”.
Who benefits from the Grandchildren Law
In accordance with the provisions of the Grandchildren Law, “sons and daughters born abroad of Spanish women who lost their nationality by marrying foreigners before the entry into force of the 1978 Constitution” benefit from the rule.
Also, “sons and daughters of legal age of those Spaniards whose nationality of origin was recognized by virtue of the right of option”, as well as “sons or grandchildren born outside of Spain to a father, mother, grandfather or grandmother originally Spanish ”.
