FIFA in Technology

FIFAthe International Federation of Associated Soccer, has implemented various technologies to assist refereeing in soccer matches.

FIFA is the International Federation of Associated Soccer, it is a non-governmental organization that is dedicated to regulating and promoting soccer worldwide. It was founded in 1904 and has more than 211 member associations around the world.

Among its main objectives is to organize and coordinate international soccer competitions, such as the Soccer World Cup and the Confederations Cup, as well as to promote and develop soccer at amateur and grassroots levels.

FIFA also plays an important role in regulating soccer, establishing rules and regulations for the game, and overseeing compliance with these rules in international matches. In addition, FIFA has a role in promoting values ​​such as fair-play and integrity in football.

FIFA’s headquarters is in Zurich, Switzerland and is led by a president who is elected every four years. At present the president is Gianni Infantino.

FIFA, as we mentioned before, has implemented different technologies to help referees. Some of these technologies are:

1. VAR (Video Arbitration Assistance System): The VAR is a video review system that allows referees to review controversial decisions in important matches. VAR is used in matches of the World Cup, the UEFA Champions League and other important events.
2. Goal Line Assist System: The goal line assist system uses special cameras to detect if a ball has completely crossed the goal line. If the ball has completely crossed the goal line, the system sends a signal to the referee to score a goal.
3. Offside detection system: The offside detection system uses special cameras to detect if a player is in an offside position. If a player is in an offside position, the system sends a signal to the referee for a decision.
4. Yellow and red card system: The yellow and red card system allows the referee to show cards electronically from a special device, showing the sanctioned action on the screen to the public and viewers.

Each of these technologies helps referees make more accurate and fair decisions in soccer matches. However, there are also concerns about the cost and complexity of implementing these technologies in all soccer matches.
