The festival of the Negritos de Huancavelica returns (Photos)

With great joy and enthusiasm, dozens of blacks arrived in Huancavelica, as part of the customary festival of the Dulce Nombre de Jesús Child and the Fajardito Child.

As is tradition, the blacks arrived on Av. Andrés Avelino Cáceres (Yananaco neighborhood), distributing wine, grapes and cane to “los seranitos”; because they were heading towards the Santo Domingo church, in search of a miraculous and beautiful child.

This party takes place after two years of paralysis, due to the restrictions of the pandemic, so the expectation of the population was abundant.

Along with the little blacks, the black Maria Rosa arrived on horseback, dressed in a lilac dress and the Caporal (or Huaccra Sencca), who read funny edicts throughout his journey through the streets of Huancavelica.

“With overflowing joy, we blacks of color have arrived in this Land of Mercury, passing through many sufferings, between fantastic hills and snow-capped mountains, crossing raging rivers, thank you very much for this tremendous welcome, out of gratitude we have brought plenty of wormy fruit, cachina rancid, pure pisco to cook the tripe and for the mischievous ‘seranitas’ we bring them kisses”, affirmed the popular Waccra Sencca.

During their arrival, the little blacks came delivering grapes, watermelons and especially wine, to whom they shared peak by peak, to the delight of ‘the seranitos’.

Today, Saturday, the festival of Los Negritos continues, declared a Cultural Heritage of the Nation, the same one that will continue with the arrival of the “qatilinyas”.

Later, in the following days, the party will continue with processions and dances by the blacks, all dedicated to the beautiful child they saw arriving on their land.
