The The Dominican Republic is the third among 14 countries in the region with the lowest minimum wageaccording to a study published bloomberg line recently, only surpassing Venezuela (8 dollars) and Argentina (189 dollars).
According to that ranking, in the country the minimum wage is 11,500 pesos, equivalent to 205 dollars. For the study, the financial information of the authorized institutions of each country was taken as a source.
The list of wages higher lows tops it Costa Rica that pays 603 dollars, equivalent to 350,975 Costa Rican colones. While Uruguay ranks second with 540 dollars, in Uruguayan pesos 21,106.
Chile ranks third paying 475 dollars, equivalent to 410,000 Chilean pesos.
Venezuela and Argentina, which occupy the last two places on the list, pay 8 dollars, the first, which is equivalent to more than 130,000 bolivars, and the second pays 65,427 Argentine pesos, that is, 189 dollars.
The list, in order from largest to smallest is: Costa Rica, Uruguay, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, El Salvador, Paraguay, Panama, Bolivia, Mexico, Honduras, Peru, Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Argentina and Venezuela.
Of these countries, Argentina is the only one that announced adjustments for the first four months of this year. In the case of the Dominican Republic, no announcement of a salary increase has been made for this 2023, despite the fact that the business associations agreed that the increase be discussed, not only for the minimum.
