President Luis Abinader highlighted today that from August 2020 to December 2022 have been Actions promoted and facilities granted to Dominican airlineswhich, he explained, has resulted in an increase of a 86% in the movement of passengers and 19% in the operations carried outcompared to the previous management.
In this regard, he highlighted the confidence that investors have in the present and future of the Dominican Republic and in a particular way he spoke of the aviation sector, pointing out that “This is not chance or luck, it is work.”
In this sense, the Head of State asked the National Congress to take advantage of the extension of the legislature to approve the bill for the Promotion and Competitiveness of Civil Aviation, a piece with which the Government seeks to apply new incentives for local civil aviation leaning on the new promotion and competitiveness law of that sector.
The president recalled that in 2019 more than 13,000 passengers were mobilized in just over 11,000 operations at entrances and exits through the country’s airports and At the end of 2022, 250,000 passengers were transported in more than 13,000 operations.
When speaking at the activity held at the La Vendimia restaurant, at the Doctor José Francisco Peña Gómez International Airport of the Americas, for the inauguration of the Sky High’s new fleet of planesa national commercial aviation air operator, President Abinader said that this represents a boost to the dynamics that this sector currently has.
He referred that the Dominican airlines have almost doubled the total number of passengers transported in the previous managementas is the case of Sky High, which, he indicated, has increased by a 35% passengers transported compared to 2019 (41 thousand more passengers).
“In 2022, this operator mobilized 56,000 passengers on more than 14 routes in the region; It also went from using aircraft with a capacity for 19 and 45 passengers, to operating in aircraft with a capacity for 100 passengers”, pointed out President Luis Abinader.
Promotion of civil aviation
“Because we believe that it is a very good way to create jobs, guarantee the legal security of our companies and encourage investment”raised the ruler.

He explained that the legal provision aims to promote and increase the competitiveness of civil aviation in the country, thus establishing the pertinent incentives that allow the increase in visitors by air.
The president stated that, with these provisions, it seeks to establish, in addition, new domestic and international routes from and to national strategic markets and strengthen the Dominican positioning as a connection point for transport, passenger and cargo logistics.

For this 2023 that has just started, Sky High Dominicana has a fleet of 4 Embraer-190 of 97 passengers including Business Class, 3 Embraer-145 of 50 passengers, 2 Embraer-75 of 77 passengers with Business Class as well as a Boeing 737 freighter , for a total of 10 aircraft.
