The Foreign Ministry issued a statement to criticize the fact that the United Kingdom recognizes the 2015 National Assembly as legitimate and warns that this position would be affecting the spaces for dialogue that have been convened by the president, Nicolás Maduro.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement to express their rejection of the position taken by the United Kingdom of not recognizing the administration of Nicolás Maduro, but rather the National Assembly (AN) elected in 2015.
In the opinion of the Foreign Ministry, London’s decision to recognize that instance as legitimate is a “flagrant interference” in the internal affairs of Venezuela and that it would be affecting “the true spaces for dialogue” convened by the president, as well as “the achievements concretos” agreed upon for Venezuelans.
Presumably it can refer to the dialogue table in Mexico that, after the signing of a social agreement between the ruling party and the parties sheltered under the Unitary Platform, agreed to unfreeze 3.2 billion dollars to meet some urgent needs of Venezuelans. Even Maduro in his speech conditioned returning to the table unless those resources were already available.
In this sense, Venezuela calls on the United Kingdom to play a “constructive role” and to establish paths of understanding between the two countries to iron out the rough edges between Caracas and London, such as the issue of gold that is in the vaults. of the Bank of England and that, in a previous trial, custody was not given to the Maduro administration.

Likewise, the document makes it clear that “the United Kingdom continues to not accept the legitimacy of the administration established by Nicolás Maduro.”
The United Kingdom has been one of the countries that, since 2019, has not recognized Maduro as the country’s presidency. Initially, he supported Juan Guaidó as head of an interim government and, after its dissolution, he decided to support the AN 2015.
