The Minister of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight against Hunger, Wellington Dias, announced today (11) that in February he will present a proposal for a new Bolsa Família. According to the minister, the program will focus on integration with the Single Social Assistance System and updating the Single Registry.
Upon leaving a meeting with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva at the Planalto Palace, the minister said that as of February the government will start to actively seek to include those outside the program, it will start paying R$ 150 to who have children under the age of six (to be paid in March) and update about 10 million benefits that have “evidence of irregularities”.
“A considerable part that will be going through the sieve of these updates. There are about 10 million [de benefícios]of these, we have about 6 million that are those that we are looking at with priority, where are the single-person families, who entered mainly in this last period”, explained the minister, and added: “always with a focus on guaranteeing that we have all the take care of those who need it most.”
Dias pointed out that the government’s goal is to remove Brazil from the Hunger and Food and Nutrition Insecurity Map during his term.
