Summer Sports 2023 also takes place at the National Aquatic Center (CAN). The most important swimming pool in the country is full of children and adolescents who participate in the free swimming classes, which began this Monday, learning the techniques in the water while enjoying a water sport during their vacations.
The aforementioned classes will allow students to learn about the four styles of swimming, deepen the improvement of the swimming technique and the introduction to the training of functional capacities and learning of the basic principles.
The quotas for registrations were filled in the two days established by the SND for registrations and on Monday the practices began at the National Aquatic Center with schedules divided between 07:00 and 10:00. It should be noted that the swimming classes do not have the character of sports initiation, since one of the main requirements is that of self-dependence in the water, that is, knowing how to float and move in the water.
The swimming classes are part of the Sports Summer Social Program, promoted by the National Sports Secretariat and, beyond the sports that will benefit the students, the objective of the initiative is to promote the practice of sports at different age levels, creating healthy lifestyle habits.
Swimming, a complete sport
Swimming is the complete sport par excellence, since apart from enjoying and relaxing in the water thousands of benefits are obtained. After the refurbishment of the renovated CAN pool to receive the ODESUR South American Games, the most important swimming pool in the country is enabled during the summer with classes that attract several little fish eager to enter the water.
Parents highlight the benefits of swimming lessons
The General Directorate of Communication of the SND spoke with the parents who accompany their children during the practices of the aquatic sports discipline. The interviewees highlighted the importance of practicing sports while sharing their expectations and what these classes represent during the holidays.
“The swimming classes are super cool. Everything related to sports for children, to get them out in these times after the pandemic was on screen, screen, screen; leaving that and playing sports for me is super cool. The promotion of sports among children, what the SND is doing seems spectacular to me” affirmed one of the parents, encouraged.
He himself brings his 8-year-old son who said he is happy with the classes and looks forward to each class.
The mothers are also present, cheering from the stands and attentively watching every movement of their children in the large CAN pool. “The classes are great in this very hot season and also that they begin to learn, I am the mother of a 7-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy who practice and we come from Luque. The boys are very enthusiastic and get up early to get to class on time and not miss a minute, ”she highlighted.
He added that these types of sports activities are important for boys. The mother present also stated that her son suffers from asthma, highlighting that since the beginning of his classes, the boy has practically improved a lot and is confident that he will soon forget his asthma since he does not show any more signs of the disease.
