4G Network: Proinversión announces tender for band projects for regions

The projects of Radioelectric Spectrum Bands to provide and improve the of telephony and Internet to several communities were relaunched to bidding again by Proinversión.

According to the entity, bidders will be able to make their queries and suggestions of the Bases until February 28. Bidders will be pre-qualified until April 5.

The executive director of Proinversión, José Salardiexplained that “These are priority projects that will help improve the connectivity of thousands of people and families in districts and communities in various regions of the country.”

“In this sense, the awarding of both Bands will allow a greater number of rural localities at the national level, which today only have 2G or 3G services, can also improve and have 4G mobile servicesand thus access more information, improve the quality of their communications and receive distance education and telehealth services that are of vital importance today,” the entity reported in a statement.

WHAT ARE THE PROJECTS?

The bidding process, which was coordinated with the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), includes the AWS-3 Band, which is divided into two blocks.

These are: Block A of 2×15 MHz and Block B of 2×15 MHz, so that a bidder can present his offer for one or both blocks.

For its part, the 2.3 GHz Band maintains a single 30 MHz block.

“The allocation of these blocks will be defined exclusively based on the offer made by the bidders for locations to be implemented within a certain period (Mandatory Investment Commitments),” he stressed.
