The Ministry of Education (Minedu) announced that the exceptional bonus of S/950 for teachers and educational assistants appointed and contracted, which was to be paid in March, will be delivered in January.
“If the money is there and the teacher needs it, why are we going to unnecessarily mistreat him”said the head of Education, Óscar Becerra, after meeting with the Minister of Labor, Eduardo García, and the general secretary of the Unitary Union of Educational Workers of Peru (Sutep), Lucio Castro.

Meeting with the Sutep
On the other hand, Minister Becerra reported that the process of granting union licenses will be modified and accelerated.
“According to the law, union leaders have the right to leave. They submitted an application and, due to the inefficiency of the State, it took us four or five months to grant them the license. Meanwhile, the teacher is no longer paid, they suspend him, and they start an administrative process for abandoning his job. Now we are going to give you union leave from the day you request it“, he pointed.
Meanwhile, the general secretary of Sutep highlighted Minister Becerra’s concern to address the issue of the exceptional bonus and other important issues for teachers, such as the appointment process and the situation of managers and commissions.
Other amounts
It should be noted that, last December, Minedu also indicated that teachers appointed and hired in higher pedagogical and technological education will receive an exceptional bonus of S/1,250.
Likewise, the entity communicated the remunerative increase of S/800 for educational assistants and S/500 for basic education teachers.
